Hosts India managed to beat Australia in the opening game of the one-day series played in Hyderabad on Saturday. MS Dhoni and Kedhar Jadhav notched up half-centuries to see India chase down a modest score of 237 runs posted by Australia. Indian Captain Virat Kohli will be hoping that the side can extend their good form in this game.
On the other hand, Australia definitely put up a strong fight against India in the opening game of the series. Skipper Aaron Finch will be under the spotlight, after failing to score runs in the series opener. He really needs to lead from the front with the bat in order to help Australia stage a comeback in the one-day series.
The home side will definitely want a better batting surface as the top-order struggled to get going in the previous game. Shikhar Dhawan registered a duck in the previous game and will need to produce runs in this game.
Rohit Sharma clearly struggled to find form with the bat on a surface that offered variable bounce. He definitely will be one player to watch out for India in this game. Sharma has been India’s most bankable player in limited-overs cricket besides Virat Kohli. He has notched up centuries with greater frequency in the past two years.
Indian Captain Virat Kohli played a fluent innings in the opening game played in Hyderabad. He will certainly be keen to put in a big score for the side in this game. Ambati Rayudu could not do much with the bat in the previous game. He has done a splendid job coming at no.4 in the batting lineup.
Wicket-keeper MS Dhoni once again produced a crucial half-century in the game played in Hyderabad. He produced unbeaten partnership with Kedhar Jadhav to help India register a six-wicket win over Australia. Jadhav has clearly seen as a renaissance as a batsman and once again chipped with unbeaten 81 off 87 balls with the help of nine boundaries.
Vijay Shankar and Ravendra Jadeja also played in the previous game. Jadeja certainly produced a tidy performance with the ball. Shankar only bowled three overs and conceded 22 runs. All-rounder will be keen to make an impact with the bat and ball in this game.
In the bowling department, Pace bowler Mohammad Shami also continued his good form with the ball in hand. He picked up crucial wickets of Glenn Maxwell and Ashton Turner. Kuldeep Yadav and Kedhar Jadhav also picked up crucial wickets in the previous game.
India’s premier bowler Jaspreet Bumrah had a poor outing with the ball in the previous game. He conceded 60 runs and picked up wickets of Aaron Finch and Nathan Coulter-Nile.
The home side might bring in leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Ravendra Jadeja or Vijay Shankar if surface is on the slower side. Chahal should have played the first game as the surface offered variable bounce and made it tough for batsmen to score fluently.
On the other hand, Aaron Finch has not produced notable score since taking over captaincy duties from Tim Paine. The team management might drop him in the middle-order so that he can find form and get some runs for the side. Alex Carey might a better option at the top of the innings after scoring runs in the previous game.

Leg-spinner Adam Zampa has certainly improved his game with the ball since his recall to the one-day side. He picked up key wickets of Virat Kohli and Ambati Rayudu in the previous game.

Glenn Maxwell certainly needs to bat higher in the order as he clearly the in-form player for the side on this tour. The team management might promote him up the order in bid to score big runs for Australia in the second game of the one-day series.
