Midtable side Hellas Verona host free-scoring Atalanta, who are fighting to finish in the top-four. Gian Piero Gasperini's side lost their Champions League tie to the record champions Real Madrid by an aggregate 4-1 score. They hope to book their place in Europe's premier competition for the third season running. Verona lost consecutive league games to AC Milan and Sassuolo.

Hellas Verona hope to finish in the top half of Serie A

After their 3-0 success over newcomers Benevento, Verona succumbed to back-to-back defeats to teams above them in the standings. AC Milan are in a difficult spell in Serie A. Still, they managed to take all the points from their trip to Marcantonio Bentegodi.

Verona fought valiantly against Sassuolo last weekend, but they ended up losing 3-2. The result means the two teams exchanged league positions as Verona dropped to ninth place, which is curiously their worst position in the table this season.

Verona flirted with European places at times, but they spend most of the time above the midtable. Ivan Juric managed to steer the club to the top half of the standings as they have no worries of relegation at any point of the season.

When and where to watch?

The match kicks off at 11:30 on Sunday 21th March 2021, and the entire game will be available on Premier Sports.

Atalanta aim for another Champions League season

Real Madrid had some injury issues in the first-leg, but the Spanish giants played the return fixture with a star-studded side in Madrid. Atalanta bowed out of the tie as their inexperience was on display after a late defeat in the reverse fixture; they had to play with ten men for most of the game.

Finishing in Champions League places won't be straightforward as the previous seasons, however. Both Rome clubs, Juventus and Napoli, pose a substantial challenge. At the same time, AC Milan's decline could open more room at the top of the standings.

There is little doubt as Inter picking up the Scudetto, but the three clubs who would join Antonio Conte's side in Europe are anybody's guess. Europa League wouldn't be a fall from grace for Atalanta, but after the last two seasons where they progressed from the group stage, they can dream of going one more in next season's Champions League.

Verona winners in the reverse fixture

Verona managed to keep a clean sheet against Atalanta in the reverse fixture as they secured a 2-0 victory. It was the second time in a row Atalanta failed to find the net after a goalless draw at Spezia. Needless to say, that was the only time Atalanta went scoreless in consecutive league games this season.

Hellas Verona & Atalanta Team News

The Swiss-Cameronian Kevin Ruegg will be unavailable for selection with ankle problems. Ronaldo Vieira, Ebrima Coley and Nikola Kalinic, who only scored once after joining Verona on loan from Atletico Madrid, are also a doubt for this fixture.

Hans Hateboer and Bosko Sutalo remained the only sidelined players from Atalanta.

Atalanta help their top-four case with a win?

Anything can happen between now and the end of the season. Atalanta need to remain focused on the top-four battle. They will have a chance to finally win a trophy under Gasperini with the Coppa Italia final, but a Champions League berth would go a long way in this challenging time for clubs financially.
