Yesterday our first selection Colorando ran in the 1.20 pm race at Lingfield and managed to finish in second position by a short head, at odds of 4/5 SP at the bookies. Close but not quite good enough.
Colorando started off being held up in midfield until he switched right before taking the lead. However, he was in a battle for the prize and just lost out by a head. A good run overall, though.
Our second selection The Edgar Wallace ran in the 1.32 pm race at Doncaster and also finished second, by two and a quarter lengths, at odds of 2/1 SP at the bookies.
The Edgar Wallace fought hard in this race to join the leader, but struggled to see him off and took the place instead.
Today's first selection
Today's first selection is Year Of The Dragon and runs in the 12.35 pm race at Lingfield.
Today, the going here is classed as standard for this class five Novice Median Auction Stakes race, over this all-weather Polytrack course. The race is run over a distance of one mile and has twelve runners competing. The age classification is for three-year-olds only.
Form is rather scarce for this race, with several making their race debut today. Only Grangeclare View looks to have any kind of edge, but I'm not overly concerned. Our selection has nine tips next to his name, with Grangeclare having three.
William Knight is our trainer and has a recent run to form figure of a respectable seventy-one per cent. He has no wins under his belt from the last seven horses he's sent to post, but two places to add into the mix.
Callum Shepherd is the jockey on board, who frequently rides for William. Callum has the two wins from his last thirty-three mounts, with a further ten placings to add to that tally. The trainer/ jockey partnership look to last have had the win with today's selection, so should run well today.
Year Of The Dragon last ran seventeen days ago, but as it stands has no course or distance win to his name yet. His last race was won on the 13th January by a length over at Kempton, just one furlong shorter than today's distance. Previous to that race, he finished third at large odds of 200/1, so the bookies certainly seem aware of today's potential.
Today's second selection
Today's second selection is Hint Of Stars and runs in the 2.35 pm race at Kempton.
Today's going at Kempton is classed as standard to slow for this class five Handicap race over an all-weather Polytrack course. The race is run over a distance of one mile and four furlongs and has fourteen runners competing. The age criteria is for four-year-olds and upwards, with the youngest being a four-year-old, and the eldest a seven-year-old.
The horse that may be a threat is Catbird Seat, as he looks to be in good form, but I think Hint Of Stars will have the edge over him today. We have nine tips next to our selection, with My Bot Sepoy on three, and Catbird Seat and Bashful Boy on just the one. So looks positively tipped for today at a good price too.
Kevin Philippart De Foy is our trainer, with a recent run to form figure of sixty-seven per cent. Just three runs over the last fourteen days ago, but two of them have resulted in nice wins for Kevin.
Benoit De La Sayette is the jockey on board for us today, with four wins from his last thirteen rides to his name, and a further three placings to add. Kevin employed Benoit's services just five days ago, which resulted in the win, so it looks like Kevin is hoping he can do the same again today for him.
Hint Of Stars last ran thirty-three days ago and has been proven over the distance. His last race was won with Beniot on board and ran at Newcastle. Previous to that race he was ridden by Benoit also, which resulted in a third placing at odds of 50/1. So looks to be improving for sure.
Best odds for the double currently are over at Betway, where you can secure odds of 7.92. 6/5 for Year Of The Dragon, and 13/5 for Hint Of Stars.
Finally, as always have a great day and let's hope our selections win for us today. Speak to you all on Monday. James
