Yesterday our selection Bill Cody ran in the 2.45 pm race at Southwell and managed to win nicely for us by a short head at odds of 1.9 BSP at Betfair, and 5/6 SP at the bookies.
He made virtually all running, and the race was definitely his race yesterday. Atomic Jack was on his tail towards the end, but Bill Cody managed to hold on for the win.
Today's selection is Ahdab and runs in the 12.20 pm race at Lingfield.
The going today is Lingfield is classed as standard to slow over this Polytrack course. This is a class five Novice Stakes race, running over a distance of one mile. Ten runners are headed to post, and the age criteria is for four-year-olds and upwards, with all horses in this race being four-year-olds.
Form is sparse for some horses in this race, with three making their debuts for their owners. Our selection, Top Drop and Panda Seven look to have the most experience form-wise, with possibly Top Drop being the potential threat for us. However, no other selections particularly jump out at a first glance, so I have a feeling Ahdab won't have too much trouble scoring for us today.
Ed Dunlop is our trainer for today, with a forty-three per cent recent run to form figure. He's sent out just the seven selections over the last fourteen days, of which none have won and none placed. He will surely be looking to correct that here today.
Ryan Moore is our jockey for today and has won two of his last four mounts over the previous two weeks from four runs, with one additional place and one unplaced result. So looks to be in good form lately. He's not ridden for Ed lately and never ridden Ahdab, so it seems like he's booked Ryan especially for this race today to secure the win.
Ahdab last ran one hundred and twenty-one days ago, so a relatively long time has passed since his last run. He's using blinkers for the first time today, so that should certainly help him focus on the task at hand. His last race resulted in a second-place finishing over the same distance as today by a shoulder, where he ran at today's course. Previous to that he finished in fourth, and before that, he had a decent break following a not-so-fruitful campaign last year. Lingfield does seem to suit him well though, and the conditions certainly seem to be in his favour today.
Current best odds can be secured at Betfred at 6/4, and 2.58 over at Betfair.
Finally, as always have a great day and weekend, and let's hope our selection wins for us today. James.
