Nap of the Day – 1st May 2021

Yesterday's result

Yesterday our selection Hope Probe ran in the 4.40 pm race at Musselburgh. He finished in the second position by half a length, at odds of 3.13 BSP at Betfair and 7/4 SP at the bookies.

He chased the leader keenly before being pushed along with two furlongs left to travel. He made some headway with one left to go but held by the winner. No luck for the final day of April, unfortunately.

Today's selection

Today's selection is Lilac Road and runs in the 2.05 pm race at Goodwood.

The going is classed as good to firm at Goodwood today, over their flat turf course. The race is a class one Fillies Stakes Listed Stakes, ran over a distance of one mile. Six runners are heading to post, and the age criteria are for three-year-olds and upwards. The youngest being a three-year-old, the eldest a six-year-old.

Amniarix is looking to be the likeliest threat, who always runs strongly and wasn't too far off the leader last time out at Kempton. Several looks like they could cause issues, though, which you would expect at such a high grade of racing. However, I think Lilac Road has the edge and will run well for his owners today.

Lilac Road has seven tips to her name, Maamora five, Amniarix two, with just the one for Agincourt.

Trainer Form

William Haggas is our trainer for this NAP of the day, who has a recent run to form figure of seventy per cent. Over the last fourteen days, he's sent out twenty-nine runners, of which ten have won, and five have finished within the placings. So certainly in great form lately.

Jockey Form

Cieren Fallon is on board our selection today and won two of his last fifteen races over the previous two weeks. He's also ridden three further into a placing position. Cieren has ridden for William recently but never ridden today's selection.

Horse Form

Lilac Road last ran twenty-six days ago and proven over the distance. In her last race, she won by three and quarter lengths, in a class two race at Kempton, over a distance of one mile. Previous to that, she took a one hundred and seventy-eight-day break from racing. Then two races back, she finished in the last position from ten runners, in a class one race at Newmarket, over one mile. Three races back, she finished in the fourth position from nine runners, in a class one race at Doncaster, over a mile.

Betting Odds

Lilac Road is currently available at 17/8 with Unibet and 3.2 with Betfair.
