On Saturday our selection Minella Drama ran in the 1.30pm race at Haydock and managed to finish for a place in the second position at odds of 9/4 SP at the bookies, and 3.37 BSP at Betfair.
He ran a brilliant race, started at the front from the get-go and leading pretty much all the way around. Within the last two furlongs, the race looked to be his for the taking two lengths ahead of Faivour, but was pipped at the post, unfortunately. A brilliant race to watch and Minella Drama was unlucky to beat back into second.
Last week's round-up
It was the first week for me here at BetsForToday. We saw just the one winner at odds of 1.93 BSP (10/11 SP), with two places at 2.48 BSP (11/8 SP) and 3.37 BSP (9/4 SP). I really do think that poor ground conditions didn't help us, but let's look ahead and I can see that the rather frozen ground out there at the moment, is due to start thawing out as the week goes by.
Today's selection is Bravado and runs in the 6.15 pm race at Kempton.
The going at Kempton today is classed as standard to slow over this class two Conditions Stakes race. The race is a sprint ran over just six furlongs and has six runners competing. The age criteria are for three-year-olds only.
There's some reasonable form amongst the other horses running in this race, with Rohaan and Obtuse both with three recent wins to their name. Bravado has five tips to his name; Mighty Gurka has one more at six, Zamaani three and Rohaan with just the two. So the tipsters look relatively split on which of these four to pick, but I'm most definitely fancying Bravado for the win today.
Mark Johnson is our trainer today and has a form figure of an encouraging seventy percent, with an impressive ten wins from the last twenty runners for a win strike rate of fifty percent. With three more placings to add to that total over the last fourteen days. Mark most definitely looks to be in great form as of late.
Joe Fanning is on board Bravado today, with six wins from the last twenty one rides for a healthy twenty-nine percent win strike rate. With six more places to add to that tally. Joe looking good too over the last fortnight. When Mark and Joe team up together, they tend to produce the goods, and both look certain to have a good run with Bravado today, to keep this excellent partnership a winning one.
Bravado has won all three of his last races, so we know he likes to lead the pack, that's for sure. His last races have been in slightly lower class races, but I don't think that will be a factor today. His last win was under Joe Fanning I notice, so just a case of reproducing that form once again today.
Forecast odds for Bravado have been set at 3/1. Current odds with Bet365 are a rather generous 7/2, and 4.50 with Betfair.
Finally, as always have a great day and let's hope our selection wins for us today. James.
