StatMan Review

Welcome to our StatMan review, where you will see us put this horse racing tipster service from Betfan under the microscope for 90 days.  The tips are delivered to our inbox each morning via email and are also available from the membership area within Betfan.  The StatMan review will see results recorded at advised stakes and also at £10 level stakes.

As the service has three separate areas, as detailed below we have just concentrated on the main ‘Nap Stat of the Day' for our statistics tables. However Dave will be updating us with how each of the three areas are performing so we get a clear picture. So in one respect this service is like getting three tipping services for the price of one.

Quick Summary

We are commencing a three month StatMan review. This is a horse racing service which aims to provide three bets a day as follows:-

a. The main nap stat of the day – normally a short priced runner
b. Each Way nap stat of the day – a runner with a strong chance
c. Longshot – A FUN bet to minimum stakes.

Each bet is complete with an explanation as to why it has been chosen so that you can see some of the reasoning behind it.

I will record the results on the spreadsheet in the following way for the StatMan review:

First results sheet – Main Nap
Second results sheet – E/W Nap
Third results sheet – FUN bet.

These bets will be recorded to both level and advised stakes and I will report back in a months time with an update as to how the service is progressing.

Month 1 Summary

We have now reached the end of the first month of our Statman review and it is pleasing to report that the bank has increased in two of the three categories and that there is only a very minor loss in the other one.

Statman’s bets come in three categories on a daily basis although sometimes there is no bet for that day in one or more of the categories.

The categories are :-

(a) Stat Of The Day which is normally a fairly short priced selection that is expected to win. I have placed straight £10-00 win bets on these selections.

(b) Each Way Stat Of The Day – a longer priced selection that it is hoped has a very good chance of winning or obtaining a place. I have placed £5-00 each way bets on each of these selections.

(c) Longshot Stat Of The Day – This is generally a bit of an outsider who is expected to perform above expectations and is generally available at a larger price. These are described as “Fun Bets” by the vendor. I have placed £5-00 each way bets on each of these selections.

The bets for the following day are usually sent out by e mail the night before which gives plenty of time to place them and get the prices that are advised. As usual it is best to use bookmakers offering Best Odds guaranteed as it can make quite a large difference to returns in the case of a win or place.

I will now summarise below the month’s results for each of the systems.

A good steady start to the first month for these selections.

Not disastrous and can surely be turned around in month two.

Longshot Stat Of The Day

Return on Investment: 45.00%
Somewhat surprisingly, the long shots have out performed the other two systems. Strike rate is not dissimilar but of course odds are generally somewhat higher making wins higher. Hopefully, this run can continue into the next month and beyond.

The first month then has seen the service perform well and it is to be hoped that this trend will continue for the rest of the trial.

I will update the results of the trial in a further months time on 29th December. The trial will run from 29th October 2018 until 28th January 2019.

Month 2 Summary

We have now reached the end of the second month of our trial of the
Statman service. Yet again, two of the three categories have seen an
increase in the bank but the loss in the other has been quite large.

Bets are still being received via e mail in good time to place them at the
advised prices. As with last month, i have summarised the results for each of the categories below:

This service continues to perform steadily and the bank is slowly increasing.

This is a nice turnaround from the previous month to put this system back in the black.

Longshot Stat Of The Day

In the first month, this service did extremely well whilst in this latest month it has performed very poorly resulting in a fairly large decrease in the bank.
These bets are put forward as speculative and hopefully, the trend will be reversed in the final month of the trial to put us back in the black.

The trial ends on 28th January 2019 and I will report back then with a final update on all three systems.

Month 3 Summary

Our three month review of the Statman service has now come to an end and it is time to give a final overview of the service. The three elements of the service have all performed differently in this last month and I have summarised the results for each of these below.

I have then done the same thing again to show how the service has performed over the entire period of the trial.

Small loss for the trial, but nothing too drastic, and easily offset by the other two parts of the service.

From the above it can be seen that this is a steady service which in general terms does show a profit. The losses incurred are very small and certainly manageable considering that in the main, they arise from somewhat speculative bets, and the user could choose not to wager on these at all.

Throughout the trial i found that the e mails containing the selections were sent out in good time to place the suggested bets and that generally, prices quoted were still available.

The service overall has shown a profit over the trial period and I therefore feel that it merits four stars and a pass rating.
